I just stumbled across this opener that I've been using lately. Here it is:
"Do you know any good jokes?"
That's it. Works like a charm.
a) it's simple and pretty much impossible to screw up the delivery
b) it works for everyone, from little kids to old ladies, singles or groups. Almost...
