FR: Lessons To Learn From Vampires
Maybe its because I've been having a marathon session of True Blood, but I notice that vampires in TV shows can actually teach people, male or female, a thing or two about relationships. Here are the best things we can learn from programs like True Blood, Angel, or anything else involving vampires.
Learn To Say Only What's Necessary -
In other words, don't speak more than what is required of you. In fact, silence is often the best answer. Not only does this keep you from making yourself look like an idiot, it also makes you mysterious. If you think before you speak, you can also come up with some of the best remarks possible... which in turn makes you more fun to be around.
Be Bad -
Men and women alike have an internal hatred of boredom. People like being with "badboys" and "naughty girls" because it keeps them from that boredom. Why do you think so many women, not just girls, like Edward from Twighlight? Because he can be a danger to anyone at any point, but decides not to. No, we don't (and shouldn't) have the novelty of being so dark that it is commonplace to suck other people's blood. But we can live an exciting lifestyle.
Be Good (or at least gentlemanly/ladylike) -
Another thing to notice from people like Bill on True Blood and Edward from Twighlight is that though they have the persona of being "bad", they still remain good with their manners. Bill always opens doors, is respectful toward the opposite sex, doesn't swear, and overall keeps his manners. People love it when a person has their head about them and remains courteous. This does not mean being nice, just not a pig.
Be Able To Protect -
An instinctive attraction switch is the ability to protect. On these shows you always see the vampire protecting his interest from the rest of the world. This, in turn, causes their love interest to remain attached. Do I mean snarl at every person trying to steal the person you like? No. But it does mean being there in the most cases (not like a shrink, but as a person he or she can come to feel comfortable)
Be Mysterious -
Vampires on these shows are usually hundreds of years old. They have many stories they can tell and also harbor some intensely depressing memories, but don't talk about them. By giving such details about their lives sparingly, a mysterious shadow is cast over them and their love interest only grows.
So what does this all mean?
Well, it reaffirms the basic ideals of what being a likeable person means. Ask nearly anyone what they want in a person and they answer with the same ideas: a person who is smart, not too bad, yet not a goodie two-shoes, able to protect/support, and makes them wonder what they are doing. Go ahead, be a vampire.

You are reading the wrong stuff!
Be silent? maybe if you are at a board meeting of your large corporation. Maybe, when you in a court room watching the happenings, but go ahead, be silent in a club or bar or a Starbucks or a bookstore and see how interested your target
will be in sticking around. Women do not really want gothic, dark, emo boys. Quit reading adolescent vampire novels. Try something by Bram Stoker, or Lord Byron, even if you want to understand the original bad boy. Now, Lord Byron was loved by women. HE is a better model that some pop novel. Get out a little bit and test your theories in the field. You know something? Lord Byron had Game.
misunderstanding
I completely understand and agree with what your saying - you must stand out. However, far too many men who use the formula of cocky-and-funny do not think before they speak and end up saying a dumb or weak response. A good example of silence being the best answer would be the a while ago when I was at a party and the best friend of an HB9.5 I was talking to attempted to insult me. Instead of answering her, I simply made no regard toward this worthless spew of syllables and sounds. After that test, I continued talking and playing with my HB
. Thusly causing the annoying friend to leave, and getting alone time with the HB9.5 who I eventually took home and have now been seeing for the past few weeks.
Now, if I were to respond to the annoying friend's baiting of words, the situation could have been irreparable and I would have to either A) waste time by DHVing again which can be quite annoying or B) leave because I had just demonstrated weakness by lowering myself to an argument with a person who wasn't even my target
.
On the other hand, where are you coming at me with this Lord Bryan stuff? I already read Don Juan. I hated how that character ran his game by posing as other people. If you want to go old school, read Casanova's stories.
Hmmm...
This is not completely off... Girls are definately fascinated by the silent type, there is no doubt there. Not to mention badasses are a weakness (they make you wanna run away from home and get body piercings in obscure places, who doesn't love the excitement), and guys that can protect are even hotter. No girl wants a wuss. I mean all this stuff is useful to an extent, but heyy, doesn't that correspond with all advice???
Love you Tiger
