Some thoughts on comfort in set
Like all the great PUA's, I notice even the slightest shifts in my game... it's all a process and shifts can take weeks or months. But it's good to be aware of them.
When I consistently started hooking and attracting extremely early, I realized that ultimately I was supremely comfortable in set.
Like when I'm rolling up to girls - there are some thought processes that never really occur anymore, but they used to. My mind used to be swirling with things to say, how I was going to approach... like a movie in my head I would watch the set go down before it did... and it rarely happened as the movie preview predicted.
So as I started gaining more and more field experience, I started not being outcome dependant AT ALL... like ZERO. I would roll in and ASSUME ALWAYS that it was on.
Doing things like
- Yelling "Hey!!!!... ok welcome back" at the girls if they weren't focused
- Pulling them back physically if they are about to leave (on a positive vibe)
- Looking at girls as if they are RETARDED if they aren't listening to me
- Any bullshit thrown at me is treated exactly how I would treat a 5 year old
- Blatantly telling girls I love them and want them to have my children and we have a special connection in a cocky way that they play along with
- Cavemaning girls away from their friends smoothly enough for the friends not to interfere.
- Telling them DUMB stories about my first kiss in elementary school and making them listen because it's entertaining me
- Totally fucking with them and they know it
- Any negativity from the girl DISARMED as smooth as silk with total non reactiveness
Like the best cocktail, it's the right mix of CHARACTER (style, conversational skill and uniqueness), PRESENCE (tonality, body language) and POSITIVITY (fun) that gets the best results.
Always be conscious of what you are PROJECTING... what do you sub-communicate as a person?... What are the most high value people projecting?
How to mix the best cocktail...
Here is an exercise I do with my students at RSD:
Think of the most RETARDED, SILLY thing to say to a girl (not anything sexual or disgusting)...
For example: "My dad has three green cats and one pink one."
Walk up to a girl and spit your retarded line as an opener then just sit there - totally unreactive.
If she runs away - you DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT MIX
If she looks super weirded out - you DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT MIX
However, if she asks what? Huh? Say that again? or laughs - you're good, congratulations - you project high value.
NOW this also teaches us that the game is not VOCAL based... it's what you are projecting that matters.
I used to want the BEST lines to say, the best stories, the best routines... but I wasn't focusing on what I was projecting...
That's why this whole INDIRECT vs DIRECT opening thing is bullshit. They both work, in different logistical contexts... For example, I'd rather stop a moving street set with an opinion opener rather than "HEY, my name's Tim."
Having said that, "Hey, my name's Tim" has worked for me countless times because I'm projecting the right things... in my tonality, my presence, my directness - I honestly do not care.
Last weekend a student asked Tyler to teach him good body language... he said "Here's good body language... NOT WEIRD..." (of course this was expanded on)
So to ultimately be comfortable in set,
1. You should have no thoughts in your head as you roll up. None. Like just think about an opener and that's IT
2. Be conscious of what you are projecting - do retarded line exercise until you are consistently hooking girls right off that opener
3. Think about the right mix of Character, Presence and Positivity that suits and attracts you
4. You are NEVER REACTIVE. A girl says "I HATE YOU" - you say "Have you ever eaten a lemon?"

L.A. reverse # close
This used to work better than any other # close for me in LA, especially in terms of flaking. However, back in Austin it just doesn't work. Girls will stand there looking disappointed and waiting for me to ask their number. It may be because I'm not as well calibrated as I was back in LA, but I don't know.
"Well... I've got to go now. I'll probably never see you again, but I'm glad we met."
In LA, almost every girl would say "Well, don't you want my number?" or "Give me your number" or something similar.
I usually run 100% perfect girl at some point in set, and sometimes they'd say stuff like "No! It's like that story, remember! We have to see each other again." I think I do 100% perfect girl differently, and end it with a little moral about how you can't tempt fate, and how you wouldn't rip up a lottery ticket assuming if you won once, you could do it again.
Then I make them jump through hoops to get my number.
The first thing I say is "Look... you are really cool... I seriously like you, but this is a club thing. And honestly I always take girls' numbers in clubs, but it seems weird to call them in real life." This paces their reality and they almost always say something like "Oh my God! I do that too, but you're different, I'll call you."
Then I do TD's "No, you're too drunk... you won't remember to call me" and of course they say that they're not drunk and will remember.
The first time I did this was when I was gaming a super hot model who has trading cards of her sold on ebay. She was swarmed with modelly looking guys all night. At the end of the night she had 4-5 guys around her pushing business cards on her. I re-entered and came up with this, and she was shocked. She insisted on getting my number and I'd give her a couple digits and then "get distracted" and make her get my attention again. I made it so difficult for her to get my number. I also refused to take hers and told her to just call me.
A couple hours later, when I got home, I saw that she left me a message already and was like "I told you I'd call! I told you!" And left her number twice. Unfortunately because I got together with my girlfriend at the time, I never even day 2'd her, but she kept calling me even many months later after I'd moved to Austin.

Melbourne Lair: The place, an open shopping center in the heart of the city. I sit down at the food court and wait for familiar faces to arrive. I picked the location of this months meeting of the Melbourne Lair, Its great to have it in an informal place like a food court, sets a nice relaxing mood. Once everybody arrives we push some tables together and start the meeting. We discuss peoples sticking points and offer suggestions, we tell stories of crash and burns and success stories. We just shoot the sh*t, it f*cking great to meet up with like minded people. While telling someone my smurf routine, I see two guys get up from the table and start walking away, I glance back later to see them sitting with a girl, these guys are approach machines.
The meeting goes on way too f*cking long, everybody's got a story to tell, advice to offer, we could talk to each other for days. I feel like this is Ocean's 11 and we are planning the big heist. There is the leader, he started the group. The guru, he's an encyclopedia of info. There is the joker, he can't stop negging and teasing everyone; f*cking Canadians. There's the approach machines, they can't follow the conversation because they are too busy following the nearest piece of ass. There is the SSer, the grease boy and of course Brad Pitt. Doc, who many of you know from his great interview here last time and all too rare but outstanding posts on this list, on Mystery's Lounge, and the Montreal Lair, is bringing his seminars and speed dating events to Montreal. Previously they were mainly held in Toronto as part of the Learning Annex, Doc is now setting it up here and plans to hold events on a monthly basis.

The events are Dating Secrets for Women, a 3 Hour seminar (cost $50) and Dating Secrets for Guys; a Guide to The Art of Dating (also 3 hours and $50). The fall calendar has a full weekend seminar and makeover. He also has 3 new books coming out this fall under the SETNA Dating Manual Series. If you are opening groups (or sets: 2-sets, 3-sets, mixed sets, etc) of people with the 3 second rule by stacking indirect openers (including false opinion openers), false time constraining (discovered by Style), demonstrating a higher value to your romantic interest’s peer group with high octane DHVs while she obliquely observes (locking her into her own set with a prop), and simultaneously performing false disqualifiers (which include negs) on her with the intension of disarming her peergroup and then isolating her to rebuild her self-esteem once you have enough IOIs (indicators of interest) so you may share in a comfort and trust building effort and then build in a jealousy subplot to solidify her attraction for you, you are using The Mystery Method.
If instead you are only approaching women who are alone, you are greatly limiting your options and quite likely alienating your target's friends. Do you want a lonely woman (why is she lonely?) or a woman who already has a healthy social lfe? Truth is, healthy women have healthy relationships ... sometimes good friendships with guys.
