ZAN SEMINAR REVIEW

I recently had the pleasure of attending Zan’s first seminar, in Vancouver, Canada, in the middle of December. How was it? It was in a word, very good (ok, two words). If you don’t know who Zan is, Zan is regarded as a prince amongst Pick Up Guru’s, he has shown up on Thundercat’s top 10 Pick Up Artists list all three years and there is a whole chapter devoted to him in Style’s book, The Game. He has the reputation as being a true Don Juan, a true natural, and at one point was dating six girlfriends who all knew about each other. There is the story that they threw him a lingerie party for his birthday….which I first heard from Cliff.
About myself, I’m Docandwriter, a lifestyle coach in Vancouver, Canada. I had concerns about writing a review for Cliff, as my approach is similar (but not the same) as Zan’s (see www.fastseduction.com/discussion/read?256758,23 and www.seductionboard.com) and my perspective will be somewhat biased. My apologies in advance if this reads more like a blog entry, rather than a newbie review.
First, about Zan. No one really knew who Zan was before the two day seminar, as he is quite reclusive, only dabbling on the fringes of the ‘community’. Most of the participants who signed up for the seminar, did so on the blind faith that Zan had something meaningful to say. On the first day, Zan immediately related his past, his experiences, and who he was to the students; talking about his history as one of the original guys in the early days of the community and how he came to his current conclusions about women. This transitioned into the underlying beliefs and thought process beneath his material. The challenge in reviewing this workshop is that most of his material is theory and philosophically based, rather than technique based, particularly on the first day; it’s definitely different from the majority of workshops by other seduction gurus. Some of Zan’s beliefs include realizations that men who like women are liked by women, and that true success comes from the belief that women are beautiful. "With one hour with you, your delight in her will create a poetry between you." He never takes himself too seriously when setting up the frame with women, and in fact, he lets them know within five minutes of meeting them what his intentions are. He also spoke about general things such as being honest with women, how everything he’s learned about women, he’s learned from women, and how he’s trying to spread the message that women want to spread to guys, but just don't know how. It was a long informative day, and what was a bonus for this day was that we had the benefit of feedback from women. I brought a female friend, as did John, who organized the seminar, and Zan constantly checked in with them because he believes that if his material doesn't ring true with the female audience, then he is not getting his message out to guys properly. Zan further went to comment on the existence of the community itself, "we are all really giving each other the talk that our father never gave us." In his examples, it became apparent that a large portion of his beliefs stems from the concept of regression.
The second day focused on relationships, he spoke very specifically about how he seduces women; what he does and what he says to them. Some examples from this day are, "you need two boyfriends, one to take you out for dinners and movies, and one to drink champagne from your belly button," and "I give women pleasure if they so desire it." He described women as not wanting to be the adventure, but wanting to be taken on an adventure and how, when a man comes along that can evoke the tiniest spark of the dreams and passions she had as a child, she will follow him to the ends of the earth. He spoke about the Hover Test, and how he never gets LMR
when a woman comes over, it’s usually a done deal. During this part, everyone listened very carefully to what he had to say and took ample notes. Zan thought long and hard in preparation for his seminar and it showed. Two of the things he presented, which I thought were outstanding and have never been seen before in the community, are his Ten Qualities of an Natural (i.e. how a natural believes everything is seduction) and The Seven Steps of All Relationships.
On both days, he had detailed notes in his presentation, via Power Point, and showed the occasional excerpt from a movie. The material was very well presented and organized and all the students enjoyed listening to him. It was definitely a world class presentation.
My impression of the content (and please keep in mind that my impression is going to be slightly skewed). This is not a beginner’s workshop. I think that in order for a student to process what Zan is teaching, the student must have some level of maturity and life experience so that he can effect the subtle changes within himself. Zan does teach that everything begins with you and that you are in control of your own circumstances. The majority of the seminar is about inner game, inner beliefs and realizations and there were a few students who were new to the community who tried out the material, albeit using only the lines, and who crashed and burned terribly with women who were seeking boyfriends. For most people, this is not an overnight fix, this is the type of material that, the more one thinks about the more it will make sense.
About Zan, the person. Zan is an easy going, cool guy. A Sagittarius, for those who knows what that means. He’s very intelligent, open minded, up front, and emphatic. He'll listen to you and really understand what you say. Zan’s history in discovering his material has been entirely from his own experience, he did not use any resources from the ‘community’ at all, save perhaps conversations with his community friends, which include Style and Cliff. Zan is also interested in helping guys ‘get it’ with women, not just his students, but community wide, and I believe that he is now wanting to come out and share his message with everyone. One more thing is that Zan freely admits that he flirts with anyone, in front of anyone, including his girlfriend (haaa).
The underlying beliefs and concepts taught are new to the community, but not unique to Zan, as several other Pick Up Guru’s have come to similar conclusions and have posted about it. Zan just happens to take the concepts further. The beliefs and concepts that Zan subscribes to are age old and tested by time and have been thoroughly researched by Zan, who is an avid historian. Perhaps if you read the stories of Don Juan, or the writings of Kierkegaard, you will figure out what Zan’s approach is. Zan even references Casanova and Sartre in his workshops. The bottom line is that Zan’s material is part of a new movement in the community, which is different from both the indirect and direct methods of seduction.
How does Zan’s material relate to the other methods, in fact? Actually it doesn't, it is a new perspective. I am friends with both Mystery’s camp and with Badboy’s camp, and I'd have to say that Zan’s material is actually much closer to Badboy’s material than to Mystery’s, but would fit into the later stages of the Mystery Method. Another question is, is the world ready for this? There was intense discussion about this, whether people outside the community would be ready for this. It’s hard to say. Is the public really ready for any method? Style’s book is really the first major step towards getting mainstream acceptance for the seductive arts, but there really needs to be more major mainstream events that paint the community in a positive light. Perhaps if guys stopped being mean to girls and started seducing them using a smooth Zan method approach, women would start paying more attention to our underground movement.

It has been 3 weeks since I attended and I have had a lot of time to think through all of the information that Zan presented. I have lost that 'pumped up' feeling that we all get from motivational speakers but the stuff that Zan taught was really applicable to my game and my life and has changed me for the better.
When I was asked to sign up for the seminar I was hesitant. I had never taken any seminars, workshops or bootcamps and had learned everything through experience with my wings here in Vancouver. Furthermore, the stuff of his that I had read seemed sort of sappy and cheesy (the exact stuff that we had been told to avoid when starting out in the game).
I had been practicing Mystery Method for a solid 10 months and was starting to get awesome results with it. However, there was something lacking for me. I felt restricted by MM. I could get any girl I wanted attracted but I couldn't really 'hook' them to get them really interested. Even though I could get IOIs, makeouts, #s and whatever in the club or on the street I wasn't really having much success with women. It just seemed like they didn't want to see me again or didn't care if things continued. At the time I couldn't figure out what my game was lacking but I knew that something was missing. This with the fact that a number of the top pickup gurus were preaching about this guy lead me to sign up.
The problem was that I had become an amazing conversationalist but lacked the sexual/interested frame that is needed to seduce a girl after she is attracted (or even before she is attracted). I was the Merry-go-round, interesting and mildly entertaining at best, and what I needed to be was the fucking roller coaster and I had no idea how to do it.
This blank spot in my game is where Zan helped me HUGE.
The problem that some people may find with Zan is that he is very theoretical. Most of his stuff is theories about inner game. Even though I found it as a whole super applicable and useful there were still times where he was a little vague. The problem is that he lives it every day so it is hard for him to explain certain things because he now does them subconsciously. He preaches enlightened seduction (and once you understand it, it is just that) but the concept itself is very ambiguous:

Every true lover knows that the secret to his power over women lies in the power they have over him.
He is a friend to women. He is delighted by the way they flow through life and the way they occupy the world. Their essence enamors and enchants him, and in return he can't help but celebrate them.
He is a romantic; he believes in love, and his love is complete, absolute. He is a slave to his love of women. There is no room for misogyny, no hint of presumption, no toxicity of manipulation.
He knows that women can sense immediately when they are in the presence of a man who likes women, who thinks they are beautiful, who makes them feel lovely, who delights in them. He genuinely likes women, and men that like women, are liked by women.
He feels no need to validate himself to other men by bragging about his exploits. He never kisses and tells. Ever. His encounters with women are never about bolstering his own self-esteem or adding another notch to his bedpost. It is all about respect.
It is never about taking something for himself, but always about sharing something with her. For he knows that all experiences in life are amplified once they are shared.
His biggest fear is to be perceived as just another man; he is not like other men, nor does he aspire to be.
If he thought for a moment that she regretted her encounter with him in any way, or somehow felt sad or hurt because of him, it would break his heart. He can't bear the thought that a woman would ever feel she was manipulated by him.
And yet he doesn't mask his desires as a man. He never portrays indifference or apathy in an attempt to sneak under the radar. Instead he embraces his sexuality, presents it to her without presumption, is delighted if she responds favorably but deeply respectful if she does not.
He enters every one of his romantic adventures with newness and excitement, like his first love all over again. He knows that the impact he makes on her, and that she makes on him, will resonate with both of them for years.
And will he be hurt? Will he feel the pangs of loss when it ends? Of course. But he loves it all just the same.
He lives his life believing that every interaction in life is, in essence, a seduction. And so he assumes a woman is always interested. It might be a false assumption, of course, but it is a pleasant assumption, and so it is the way he has chosen to live his life.
He never defends himself when accused of being a player. He knows the truth: that he never plays with a woman's emotions. He is at peace with himself.
And so he makes no attempt at apology or justification for the way he is; he desires neither empathy nor absolution, nor even, for that matter, understanding. He has no need to defend himself because women are his biggest defenders.
Instead he believes his intentions are pure and mutually desired. He is genuine and honest, maybe the most honest man she has ever met. And women have demonstrated over and over to him that honesty is the best aphrodisiac.
Yes, he has been created by women, formed by them, and inspired by them.
He shares in their secrets...
I'll shorten this down for you. What Zan ultimately teaches is the mindset for being successful with women. He teaches why things are the way that they are now (as far as society and relationships go) so that we have an understanding of why things work the way they do and what people (women) are really looking for in relationships.
The basis of his teachings is that all women desire romance and adventure. They want to have that guy come sweep them off of their feet. Every woman started off with the same dreams of marrying some handsome prince, a firefighter or something along those lines and that he would sweep her off of her feet and shower her with love. Over time these desires and fantasies are suppressed and hidden because of all of the disappointing encounters she has with the average male and because of societal pressure. Even though these desires are suppressed and women may not even consciously know that they are there, every woman still has them. Every woman from a 17 year old girl to a 50 year old powerhouse CEO woman in New York still desires it and they would trade everything they have for that romance and adventure.
Sounds cheesy and needy right? That’s what I thought. It sounded to me a lot like the AFC that buys women things to gain their affection, but Zan is ten steps above that. There is only one difference between the AFC guy that buys her gifts and romances her and the Enlightened Seductionist. The difference is: The AFC makes the woman the adventure, while the Enlightened Seducer is going on adventure himself and he invites the woman to join him because a) he has bigger focuses in life and b) he realizes that as soon as he makes the woman his adventure she will become bored and leave (as time has proven). Even though he may sound cheesy at times, romance her, buy her things and so on, he isn't doing it to get any affection, he is doing it because he wants to have fun and he wants to do it anyway and girls WILL pick up on this if it is genuine.
The Enlightened seducer realizes that because he understands their secret desire for this romance and knows how to make it a reality, he is a valuable commodity. With this alone he automatically brings more to the table for the woman than any woman could offer him. This makes him a 12 out of 10. Furthermore, because he knows that he has tapped into this resource and because he is so valuable, there is no such thing as rejection. Some women will choose not to come along on an adventure while others will. This is the way of life but as long as you continually focus on your goals and improve yourself more and more women will go along with you for the adventure.
Because the enlightened seducer is in touch with women and isn't out to get any specific thing from her, women feel comfortable letting him do things that most men would not get to do. If a woman can sense that you are the real deal they will let you do whatever you want.
The enlightened Seducer makes his desires obvious and admits that the woman and him could never be friends. She knows that he wants to sleep with her (he makes it obvious) but that’s not why he is spending time with her.
The above is what Zan has become and this is what he teaches.
Zan gave us some more important information:
-The 10 traits of anyone that is successful with women and you either have all or none.
-Zan's rule of misdirected conversation.
-Examples of his conversations with women.
-A few in field exterior techniques.
-Knowledge and use of visualization tools which will push you to become an Enlightened Seducer and build the structure for solid inner game.
How this helped me:
This filled the gap in my game. I now assume attraction and interest in every set and I am always sexual even right off the bat. This lets women know right away that I am not going to be their friend: I am going to be a lover or not in their life at all.
I now see through a woman's makeup to see her grace, her beauty, her faults, her insecurities and I accept her and cherish her for that.
When a set is interested in me I am no longer afraid to say I like you or give a genuine compliment. I no longer hesitate to express my feelings and talk about relationships and deeper stuff.
I use positive thinking, visualizations and have gotten rid of a lot of my negativity. The results are already noticeable.
I still use Mystery Method at times to open sets that may be hard to open, but that’s the beauty of what Zan teaches; it is underlying and can be used with every external PU method. Its a mindset, its a lifestyle and its a higher form of pickup that is going to be the next step in the sort of 'men’s movement' that has been coming with this pickup stuff.
I now believe 100% all the time that I am a 12 out of 10. I now KNOW that I can offer more than any woman can offer me and that I have the knowledge that even 90% of the guys in this community don't understand. I now know that as long as I keep working, do the positive visualizations that Zan taught, internalize Zan's mindset and keep trying practicing and failing I will be unstoppable.
I find it so hard to put my thoughts into words. Its is very hard to explain how my game, and I as a person, have transformed for the better since meeting and listening to Zan. I’m having women tell me all of the things that I once wish I could be told: that I’m so charismatic, that I’m irresistible, that I'm a seducer, that I'm fun, that I have an awesome energy. I couldn't be happier with the way things are progressing.
I would recommend Zan’s seminar and materials to anyone that is considering taking any workshop and has some experience in the game. I find that it will go right over the heads of guys that are brand-new and don't understand the basic concepts of attraction and the game. If you do sign up, be prepared to get mind-fucked.

Zan Seminar Review
No amount of reading books or watching DVD programs would have been able to instill within me the change that Zan's seminar did. I was going in expecting to learn things about connecting with people and forming incredible relationships, but I left with so much more.
On the first day Zan presented his own philosophies. He truly adores and respects women, and he puts them on a pedestal. As someone who's been in the community for about a year now, I was stunned at the purity of his philosophies, and at his honesty. He's not 6'4" and peacocked, doesn't project over everyone to demonstrate dominance, and leans in when he's involved in a conversation. While the average ASF member may criticize these elements as weaknesses, they made Zan seem very normal and "human" to me. What makes an AFC different from guys who are amazing with women is that "the AFC makes the woman the adventure, rather than creating the adventure and taking the woman along". He shows that the adventure is as simple as hanging out with him and two bottles of champagne (Zan'll tell you why in his seminar ; ) ).
On the second day Zan presented his view on relationships. He also explains how to have open relationships, and reveals associated difficulties. "A woman is like a butterfly landing in the palm of your hand. You cherish it while it is here, and are okay when it leaves." Sounds like something from a Shakespearean play? Sure, but it's not. It's Zan.
He then goes on to shatter the idea that you need to be good-looking, and implants the idea that you can control your circumstances and you should take action now. I have done some Tony Robbins before, but this motivated me much more. We concluded with some visualization exercises, which we discussed afterwards.
If there was one thing that could be construed negatively, it is that some questions Zan can't answer right away. Reason for that is that he's recently started putting his ideas into words. The fact that a long Q&A was available after the seminar proved helpful in digging a little deeper and clearing things up.
Zan made it very clear to us that what he's teaching is inner game mainly and that it can be paired with any type of outer game: direct, indirect, c&f. Still, he showed us his own style. It's a mixture of direct and c&f, and after seeing some examples it can be very effective. He also went into exactly how he sets the frame right from the beginning.

Melbourne Lair: The place, an open shopping center in the heart of the city. I sit down at the food court and wait for familiar faces to arrive. I picked the location of this months meeting of the Melbourne Lair, Its great to have it in an informal place like a food court, sets a nice relaxing mood. Once everybody arrives we push some tables together and start the meeting. We discuss peoples sticking points and offer suggestions, we tell stories of crash and burns and success stories. We just shoot the sh*t, it f*cking great to meet up with like minded people. While telling someone my smurf routine, I see two guys get up from the table and start walking away, I glance back later to see them sitting with a girl, these guys are approach machines.
The meeting goes on way too f*cking long, everybody's got a story to tell, advice to offer, we could talk to each other for days. I feel like this is Ocean's 11 and we are planning the big heist. There is the leader, he started the group. The guru, he's an encyclopedia of info. There is the joker, he can't stop negging and teasing everyone; f*cking Canadians. There's the approach machines, they can't follow the conversation because they are too busy following the nearest piece of ass. There is the SSer, the grease boy and of course Brad Pitt. Doc, who many of you know from his great interview here last time and all too rare but outstanding posts on this list, on Mystery's Lounge, and the Montreal Lair, is bringing his seminars and speed dating events to Montreal. Previously they were mainly held in Toronto as part of the Learning Annex, Doc is now setting it up here and plans to hold events on a monthly basis.

What method are YOU using?
If you are opening groups (or sets: 2-sets, 3-sets, mixed sets, etc) of people with the 3 second rule by stacking indirect openers (including false opinion openers), false time constraining (discovered by Style), demonstrating a higher value to your romantic interest’s peer group with high octane DHVs while she obliquely observes (locking her into her own set with a prop), and simultaneously performing false disqualifiers (which include negs) on her with the intension of disarming her peergroup and then isolating her to rebuild her self-esteem once you have enough IOIs (indicators of interest) so you may share in a comfort and trust building effort and then build in a jealousy subplot to solidify her attraction for you, you are using The Mystery Method.
If instead you are only approaching women who are alone, you are greatly limiting your options and quite likely alienating your target's friends. Do you want a lonely woman (why is she lonely?) or a woman who already has a healthy social lfe? Truth is, healthy women have healthy relationships ... sometimes good friendships with guys. Like it or not, you will have to meet these women with men in her group.
