Wow! The response to my seminars and what I am trying to teach has been overwhelming! So far it's been a lot of fun, and it is great to meet so many men (and women) who are seeking a more natural and enlightened way of moving through life.
You know, as men, we all have different goals.
Some of us want to have lots of casual sex, some want to find a girlfriend, some want to have multiple partners, some want to find "the one", some want to get married, and some want to enrich their existing marriage or relationship.
I believe the concepts I am teaching in my seminars and in my writings will apply universally to all these goals. In my business I met many guys that managed to change themselves from losers to winners with women. Or many that were already successful but couldn't approach in a club. Or many that couldn't talk to any women but are now happy dating.

In this interview I talk with Peter. Peter was on a Prague workshop which was covered by a big European newspaper in a long article. Everything he says is FOR REAL, and that's what we need: REAL MEN having REAL SUCCESS. Peter is no ordinary guy, in one year he managed to have women from 15 different countries in his bed but he could get only the women that approached him; he never approached women that he didn't know.
So remember he is 37 years old and he had never approached a girl that he likes, and only spoke to the ones that stared at him or if he was introduced.
He talks about things that helped him destroy his fears. This is a combination of attract and date teachings and his own discoveries and experiences.
In the interview, we try to focus on his own discoveries cause people will never have heard of them before.

ESPN, the Ice Queen and I.
QUASI FIELD REPORT:
I work EMS in St. Louis and my service does sporting events that come by. It just so happened that on Friday the 13th we had the Ice Skating National Champions in town. My partner (ambulance partner) and I sat rink side at 7am and watched all the Olympic hopefuls practice their routines, jumps and…falls (hence why we were there). It was cold and boring so I made friends with the cop, a security guard, and 2 of the "ice technicians" that were sitting nearby at the time (two older women). We all joked around, but it was mainly the cop and I laughing at the ungodly amount of sequins that the guys were wearing. Regrettably, I didn’t try to sarge any of the HB skaters mainly because I didn’t want to lose my job if I screwed up. That and their skating partners had hawk eyes, even if they were a little fruity. I just couldn’t really get into a strong social frame to get anything going. I know it’s in my head and that’s exactly the lesson I relearned today. Read on.
Things got a little more interesting when ESPN came over to where we were sitting and set up for an interview. No one else was there so I joked that I would do their screen test for them… they weren’t amused. I swear to God that these guys live in trash cans aspiring to be Oscar the Grouch. Anyway, they said they already had someone. No sooner had he said that then this woman walks over, I would guess her mid thirties (dressed "cute" for lack of a better term) came up and took the mic. "You’d think ESPN would have found better talent to do their commentary coverage," I thought.
"Do you know who that is?" one of the ice techs said to me.
"No…" I replied.
"That’s Katarina Witt." My stomach crashed. I knew the name was very famous for skating but that was about it.
"Did she win any medals?" I asked.
"Yes," the Tech answered.
Do yourselves a favor and look this lady up on wikipedia.com, 2 Golds, 4 world championships, 6 European Championships and a Playboy Spread to name a couple of her accomplishments. The woman was apparently known for being risque on the ice and pretty hot in her prime.
Keep in mind I still don't know all of this crap as there are 3 lackeys asking her if she wants water, her coat, or anything else. She says she wants her coat because she is cold…which clearly fit her mood as she ignored everyone and everything while waiting to be interviewed, including the pictures being taken by the crowd as she mumbled Coldplay, (which was playing over the PA) the young ice skaters that bravely came over to say "they were such a fan" and as the ESPN guys are trying (bless their hearts) to amuse her by speaking German.
All this time I'm thinking game, she’s bored, she wants to be opened. I can be that man. Multiple times I work up the courage (approaching usually isn't my sticking point) and promptly shoot it down. The more I wait, the worse it gets. The three second rule turned into three minutes. After the third I finally ask her (with a fucking salsa band in my stomach, complete with backup dancers and light show.)
"So who do you think is going to win today in couples?"
Either she doesn't hear me or understand me. I will never know. I ask again.
"I don't know" she said in a meek but blas é tone with a waning German accent.
"Come on, you’re the guru on this stuff," I stutter. Yes, I said "Guru" to KW.
"It wouldn't be professional," she turns and walks to the other side of the zamboni entrance. My partner and the cop give me shit for a while and then she comes back, meanders around and takes a seat one away from mine.
Round two.
"So what did you do last night? Did you get a sample of the St. Louis nightlife?" I notice the assistants and ESPN techs are glaring at me like "who the hell is this guy?" Suck-ups. But hey, I'd probably be thinking the same thing if I were in their shoes. Anyway, she doesn't hear me and explains that it’s her in-ear monitor that makes it hard for her to hear. I call "shenanigans" to myself but I repeat…again.
"I do nothing, I only work."
"Oh…well, work is cool too," I say, physically forcing myself to spit out every word like I was recovering from a massive stroke. She can tell this, I can tell this and so can the Oscar the Grouch fan club. KW gets up immediately does her interview while her lackeys put her coat on and off for her at her whim (one also just "happened" to be standing right in front of me with a watchful eye).
I don't blame her for how she acted toward me; everyone probably wants a piece of her, especially in her own domain. She’s like Michael Jordan and I was BJ Armstrong on the Bulls. I was trying like all the others on the team, but I didn't stand out. When I went back to the station to leave my shift I told a couple people about what had happened. Everyone said, "what a bitch," but I disagree. Like Style, I don't think of it so much as her being a cold "bitch" as much as it was my error in approach and obvious need for better inner game. I'm sure she’s a nice person once you get past her defenses. Still, I came away from it feeling dejected and quite honestly rethinking if I even had a chance at succeeding at this whole PU stuff, almost putting it away. But thanks to a little time and motivation a la Cliff I'm rebuilding again. This is a process, (as most PUAs attest to) but that doesn't mean it won't suck at times.
But! For the amount of embarrassment, I relearned some hard lessons that I still didn't understand. Until I knew who she was, she was just another girl, not even the most attractive one there (that goes to the chick ice dancing champion, I think she’s Latin or something). Fame had corrupted my composure even when I knew that she was just another regular person. She’s likely tired of her fame and attention, but not too sick of it to do away with the praise it gives her. And as David D. says to get rid of negative thinking, I see this now as a success…even though I probably acted like Mushmouth from Fat Albert. I'm starting to see through my own programming. This is good. Though I do not consider myself a PUA by any means, I know that this is a positive step in the right direction. If I can get over a feeling that strong (the blinding nervousness) and still at least "attempt" to talk to someone famous, the Miss Hooters Missouri across the hall shouldn't be as much of a sword eating contest, even though I've talked to the girl for the past 3 years.
Lessons learned the hardest ways are ones best remembered, I guess.
Cliff's Comment: You really didn't demonstrate any value to her and that's why it didn't go anywhere. It's funny how guys, even after reading many interesting ways to start a conversation, will fall back on the same old tired words that never worked in the past but which are for some reason more comfortable to get out than something that may actually work and get her interest. It takes a lot of courage to break out of old habits, but if you want to get different results from what you have been getting, you have to do something different.

The Tao of Dating by Alex Benzer, MD, MPHIL, www.thetaoofdating.com
Hey boys and girls, it's review time! I spent a large part of the weekend curled up reading "The Tao of Dating" by Alex Benzer, MD, MPHIL while my girlfriend kept asking me what I was doing. I ended up giving the book to her when I finished (especially the parts about being needy). I ended up discussing many of the topics with her and even discussing the philosophy as a whole for either gender. Personally, I feel this is a great book. It's been a long time since I have read an e-book that could just as easily been purchased at the bookstore.
The book is incredibly well written, and is busting with information and has a natural flow to it, starting where one should start, and flowing naturally into the two accompanying manuals (which are just topic extensions of the book) "The Tao of Sexual Mastery" and "The Tao of Social Networking". If you are just starting to learn how to increase your skill with dating and women, this is a great place to start. If you have read and been practicing your skills, this is the perfect book to boost your inner game. Most of the concepts that Dr. Benzer discusses are right on the money. He perfectly weaves dating with the Tao Te Ching, and uses some of Lao-Tzu's "The Way" philosophy to reiterate and punctuate his dating concepts. This book bridges "the pickup" with NLP and eastern philosophy, and is very straightforward. I can't think of even one section that has "fluff". All three sections together are just under 180 pages (single spaced), which would make for a very large paperback.
As a whole, the manual is not a book on pickup lines and techniques for handling women. It does offer some techniques, but these are mostly to demonstrate a personality traits or skills that leads to the desired result - ATTRACTION. The book has numerous exercises ranging from visualization to goal setting to NLP (anchoring, frames, etc.), all in an effort to help you develop the right attitude (my personal belief is the attitude is the important part, and behavior and skills are created from this attitude). This is a serious inner game book. It's one of those books that you just can't read straight thru, the message is too deep to be digested in one sitting.
According to the website, the price of the book is $59.97 (or three payments of $22.97), more than I expected, yet, given the information, well worth the price. If you are looking to develop your dating skills, and more importantly develop your personality to that of excellence, one which ladies enjoy, then this is a great starting place.
On a side note, I do not believe I have ever met Dr. Benzer, and I have no incentives, financial or otherwise from www.thetaoofdating.com. If he reads this I would love to congratulate him on a job well done.

There's a saying about the thin line between love and hate. With the flip of a switch, a lover turns to an enemy. Or an enemy to lover. Love and hate - Both are passionate emotions. And passion is what I hope to evoke in the guys I help and talk to. I don't care to respond to flames because it brings down what Cliff has created with this newsletter. Space is better used for good field reports, techniques, philosophy, and varying points of view. Debate is fine; dogma is dangerous. One of the things I do in the martial arts classes I teach is to create a safe environment for kids, where they can feel like they can be themselves, no matter what, without shame or embarrassment. And that's tough to do the way they're growing up. The human spirit seems to be as crushable these days as an empty can of Bud. Guys have no fire in them - no goals or meaning.
I just went to go see "King Kong" a few weeks back, and I was pretty floored. It was a really incredible movie. Pretty draining, too. The funny part is that Naomi Watts ends up falling for a thirty-foot gorilla. All because the gorilla protects her and takes a dominant role the whole time. Let me say that again: She falls in love with a thirty-foot GORILLA. Some people may think that the movie is all about Kong's love for HER, but in a weird chick-logic emotional way, you can really understand her feelings for him. After all, Kong was more of a man than the wussy lead actor she was supposed to play against. Until Adrian Brody comes along and does a decent job of rescuing her, Kong is the only MAN around. Kinda funny, if you think about it. Most animals don't have a problem being masculine. They just do what they do best. But we men seem to have some social hangups that need to be addressed. The reality is that women today are waiting around for a guy who will step up and do the job of being a Man. What is it that women really want? That's a question most guys ask at some point or another. It usually comes up in this situation:
Guy meets woman.
Woman seems to like man.
Guy gets excited about woman.
They go out on a 2nd meeting. Things seem to go good....
Guy never hears from woman again. "What happened?" he thinks. And then it strikes him that this woman gave him every indication of digging him, and now she's totally blown him off.
Then, rather than figure out the reason why things went the way they did, he chalks it up to:
"Women! Who understands them..."
Well, why not understand them? It's not hard. Here, let's go over a few basics:
- Women like a guy with energy and excitement in him.
If you're one of those guys who doesn't show his emotions, or tries to stay really cool ALL the freakin' time, it's time to change.
What's that? You're not that kind of guy that gets excited? TOUGH $#!+, my friend. You're kidding yourself if you think emotional detachment is a personality trait. It's not. It's a FLAW. Root it out and kill it!
You've got to get excited in this life, or you're not living the life you were meant to live.
Ask yourself one question: How alive are you willing to be?
Don't go overboard and be a spaz. Just show some passion and fire in you. The old timers used to call this "piss and vinegar." I call it Alpha Male Power (AMP.)
If you can't get AMP'd up about something in your life, you're not LIVING.
- Women love a guy who can play with s*exual tension and make HER feel alive.
Now, the trick to this is something that is learned as you calibrate to social situations and being around women. They don't want a guy who is obvious and boorish.
Here's the trick: You must insert romantic obstacles between you two. (I think Juggler has referred to these as 'barriers,' it's a superb concept.)
These romantic obstacles are what you see in every one of those shameless romantic chick flicks out there. The plot is pretty standard and cookie cutter by now:
Guy meets girl, they get attracted, or she barely likes him, and then there's a series of misunderstandings (usually involving the guy being a COMPLETE idiot), and then, after he's been sufficiently humiliated, they go through a bunch of keee-RAZY obstacles to finally wind up in each other's arms. AFTER the woman has forgiven the man for being a total fukking idiot. The End.
I'll resist my natural urge to tear apart Hollywood for its despicable portrayal of men AND women and just get on with my point... Where was I...
Oh yeah. The Romantic Obstacles. Here's one you can put in any conversation. It's a great challenge: "You're pretty cute. It's a shame we're in a public place or I'd bite your ear. Maybe nibble on your earlobe. Kiss you along your neck. Then I'd probably go nuts and ravage you right there. Like I said, lucky we're in a public place."
Then change the subject to something else, like the weather or the high price of toaster pastries.
She'll be burning for you for hours, dude. Just wait until you ARE alone.
Create these little challenges to romance at every opportunity. They are the imagined (or totally fabricated) reasons that you and her can't get together. The more she thinks you're able to delay 'gratification' the more turned on she will be.
That's a pretty powerful concept (and technique) so I suggest you take it somewhere sunny and warm and let it grow in your mind. Take some time and think about it.
I've just given you two VERY important traits of an Alpha Man.
So to conclude, this controversy tells me I'm stimulating thought. And, I hope, the hunger for growth.
You'll either like what I say, or not. I'll still be happy to hear what you say without reproach. But all I ask is that we make even our rebuttals hold value here, with information that helps those who read Cliff's List. My ego is warm and happy, and I'll leave it out of my posts, where it doesn't belong.

I am still trying to tone my stuff down a bit, and not doing well. My buddy Bob (the natural) and I were out at a patio bar last Saturday. This hot blonde walks by and he comments to me on her ass. She turns around and it turns out that this hot blonde is his cousin. He starts laughing, hugs her and tells her he just commented on her hot ass, not knowing it was her. She looks at me and asks, "did he"... I say "Yeah, he did." (Note, I am wearing ripped jeans, flip flops, a wife beater and a dew rag). She says "well?" me "Well, what?" Her "what do you think?" Me "I think if you're not careful you'll end up on the business end of my dick." Her eyes got wide and she asked if she could join us. I couldn't get rid of her after that (she is 20). Well, the more attention she showed, the more I got, and it escalated.... later Bob and I went out with 3 other girls we met that day, his cousin, and 2 of her girlfriends. My attitude just got tougher and tougher........ it was funny. Dressed like I was, we went out to a nice club where most guys were wearing sports coats... we were treated like rock stars..... got the numbers of the girls and had a nice orgy that night ....
Cliff's Comment: The cousin and her friends were not part of the orgy, just so that no one thinks there is any incest being promoted here...

Melbourne Lair: The place, an open shopping center in the heart of the city. I sit down at the food court and wait for familiar faces to arrive. I picked the location of this months meeting of the Melbourne Lair, Its great to have it in an informal place like a food court, sets a nice relaxing mood. Once everybody arrives we push some tables together and start the meeting. We discuss peoples sticking points and offer suggestions, we tell stories of crash and burns and success stories. We just shoot the sh*t, it f*cking great to meet up with like minded people. While telling someone my smurf routine, I see two guys get up from the table and start walking away, I glance back later to see them sitting with a girl, these guys are approach machines.
The meeting goes on way too f*cking long, everybody's got a story to tell, advice to offer, we could talk to each other for days. I feel like this is Ocean's 11 and we are planning the big heist. There is the leader, he started the group. The guru, he's an encyclopedia of info. There is the joker, he can't stop negging and teasing everyone; f*cking Canadians. There's the approach machines, they can't follow the conversation because they are too busy following the nearest piece of ass. There is the SSer, the grease boy and of course Brad Pitt. Previously they were mainly held in Toronto as part of the Learning Annex, Doc is now setting it up here and plans to hold events on a monthly basis.

What method are YOU using?
If you are opening groups (or sets: 2-sets, 3-sets, mixed sets, etc) of people with the 3 second rule by stacking indirect openers (including false opinion openers), false time constraining (discovered by Style), demonstrating a higher value to your romantic interest’s peer group with high octane DHVs while she obliquely observes (locking her into her own set with a prop), and simultaneously performing false disqualifiers (which include negs) on her with the intension of disarming her peergroup and then isolating her to rebuild her self-esteem once you have enough IOIs (indicators of interest) so you may share in a comfort and trust building effort and then build in a jealousy subplot to solidify her attraction for you, you are using The Mystery Method.
If instead you are only approaching women who are alone, you are greatly limiting your options and quite likely alienating your target's friends. I'm starting a new coaching program designed to speed the process of overcoming social fears and self imposed limitations. So many guys out there, and in the community in particular have a lot of bad habits and childhood mannerisms that they carry on to their adult life. These come from unconscious beliefs and memories that run their lives. I believe working to improve these issues should be tackled from both sides. On the one hand, I'm going to talk to guys about their belief system and self images. On the other, I'll comment on different things that they do, like body language, voice inflections, and facial expressions that betray these beliefs.
