Nige 54: "I don’t think you could handle the pace" G’day guys, Over the last few weeks, it has been very interesting reading about the debate around attracting women through honesty and integrity compared to approaching women via talking about scenarios that never happened to you, magic tricks, mind games, etc. Personally, I think I lie somewhere in the middle. But being what many would describe as a "natural," I was very pleased to first discover the writings of PUA
s some years ago to realize that my natural philosophy to approaching women was very much in line with what they encouraged. To explain, I have always believed that before you go out or approach women (or have them approach you), it is vitally important to have a mindset that I call the "I already have a girlfriend" look. This mindset of looking and acting as if you are already taken is naturally attractive because you lose the glint in the eye women can see a mile away, you lose that hunter mentality and you naturally become ver y relaxed. This ensures that you practically do not care what happens when you go out to a bar or club and as such this mentality fuels the correct mindset many of the PUAs talk about. That being I am never intimidated by beautiful women, I will always approach them with interesting things to say, I am always looking for ways to make them laugh (probably the key to success in many situations), I will immediately hold them accountable if I confront any type of stuck up attitude and while speaking to the m & I will regularly find ways to "bust their balls" (as David DeAngelo would put it). To give you a live example, here’s a classic situation that happened to me just last weekend: I was out my local bar on a Friday night having some casual beers and was in a very relaxed mood and not really expecting anything to happen. But that changed when I noticed a HB 9 walk in with her friends. She was slim, about 5 foot 10 with long brown hair, a gorgeous smile and she was wearing a very colourful headband (she was "peacocking" as Style would say!). Over the next hour or so I sank a few beers with my mates while I noticed a number of guys attempting to approach and talk to her and one guy in particular did rather well as he left with her number. However, my only criticism of some PUA theories is that there is WAY too much focus on the achievement of just getting a phone number. I can't tell you how many times I have heard a guy boast about getting a HB’s number and then leave thinking his night is complete only for me to move on in. As was the case here…. As I walked through to the bar I passed HB 9, I smiled at her and she smiled back.
After getting my drink I walked back past her and then lent in with the following comment. "You have to tell me the rationality behind wearing a headband like THAT?"
"Oh, I thought it matched my top?"
"Really??? Ok then……" I said with a very confused look on my face. HB 9 suddenly became very self conscious. " Don't worry, it suits you…" She smiled. "…kind of," I then said with my cheeky grin. She frowned. "Ha, ha, you are sooooo easy to wind up……I am just joking, you look great," I said. By doing this I had knocked her down and built her back up and now I had instant rapport as indicated by her next comment.
"You are such a smart ass ! So, what’s your name?" Ok, so from here we started a fun conversation and things were going well and inevitably, being a chick, she wanted to find out what I did for a living. Sometimes I tell women that I am a Dating Coach and sometimes I don't , it just depends on the vibe I am getting and if I believe it will be of benefit. In this situation I told her that I was in fact Australia’s Leading Dating Coach and after the usual "I don't believe you" reaction, HB 9 came out with the following comment: "So if you are a Dating Coach, does that mean you think that you can convince me to take you home and have sex right now?"
"Well I could, but I don't think you could handle the pace." HB 9 stood there stunned. "You think I couldn't handle the pace?!"
"In a word, no." And I turned and looked towards the dance floor acting totally uninterested.
"Watch my bag and wait right here!" she said shoving her bag in front of me and going off in huff. HB 9 returned two minutes later with her friends. They sized me up from a distance and then one of them came over.
"So you’re the apparent Dating Coach?"
"Indeed I am."
"And do you promise to look after our friend?"
"Yeah sure," I said in a very genuine and relaxed tone. Her friend returned to the group and HB 9 walked back over. "I just wanted my friends to meet you," she said.
"Great, now let’s go and have some fun," I replied.
"Yeah, let’s go and let’s see who can handle the pace and who can't smart ass !" Needless to say HB 9 and I had an AWESOME time together. But the point I would like to note here is that I have created situations similar to that all throughout my PUA career and via the method of being confident, secure and entertaining & I have never found any need for magic tricks, mind games, any kind of weird seduction language or talking about scenarios that have never happened to me. These techniques may be great assets for some, but particularly in Australia, most women - especially the hot babes - will see most of these approaches as extremely lame if not conducted by an absolute master of the game. Even so, I think my way is much more fun and requires far less effort. But each to their own.
As an interesting epilogue, the guy that HB 9 gave her number to before she met me called her while we were in bed a couple of days later. She allowed me to answer the phone and I told him everything that had happened as soon as he left the bar with her number. He could not believe his ears and bought a copy of my book that very day! When God created woman, he didn't give us an operator's manual...so Mystery wrote one. Now, what if you were to imagine a time in your future, and it was filled with the attention of the opposite sex? That would be a good thing, right? I know there's alot of material out there, most is great and has it's place within Mystery Method. Why? Because alot of what is out there was originated by Mystery, then little bits became systems, but not as complete. Tyler is good, as is Swinggcat, as is Style, as is...name whoever. They all freely admit it was Mystery who changed their game, or gave them some to begin with.
The beauty of the handbook is the breakdown of the M3 model...a sequential mode of the phases of seduction. Yes, it is sequential, now you know. By sticking to the model, you know what to do and when to do it. So, there's very little guessing as to where you are in the seduction. Do I neg her, do I kiss her, do I take her home? These nagging questions become obsolete when you become able to feel where you are in the interaction, because you have been controlling everything from the beginning, because you have the handbook.
To be good at anything, you have to start with the best foundation, then build on top of that. The VAH IS the foundation AND the house, it's up to you to put in some furniture. If you want, you can flesh it all out with tactics from other gurus, but it's not really necessary. You will see a difference when you buy it, now you will have to study a bit, but you can start applying different principles immediately and notice the difference in the reactions of females. I truly believe in this stuff.
Review: The Mystery Method Video Archive Encyclopedia
Some things in this world are so uniquely great that it seems as if they were meant to be, as if some unseen hand guided them into being. Elvis was meant to be Elvis-The King of Rock n' Roll, Bruce Lee was meant to be Bruce Lee-The King of Martial Arts, Mystery was meant to be Mystery-The King of Game.That Mystery is this, is evident in the Mystery Method Video Archive. The man lives and breathes the art that he created and teaches so well. When you are watching the DVD's, you get the sense that Mys was born to teach. The best teachers are the ones who love their chosen subject, and it's clear that he does. When watching the hidden Easter eggs I stumbled across (amazing, huh?), Mystery is doing a question and answer session, meaning, he isn't doing formatted lesson material, and off the top of his head he can answer ANY question posed! He has been there, done that, and solved every problem that has ever come up. He may have super-powers too, I'm not sure yet.
The DVD's were designed to work hand in hand with the Venusian Arts Handbook, and both are essential if you plan to get good at game. There are things which are hard to grasp from reading the text alone, but to see Mystery demonstrate certain things, you will be so much clearer on the more difficult tactics. Even with the slightest gesture that he makes, you will find yourself saying, "Now I get it !" I know I did. I personally got a lot out of seeing the frame that Mystery presents, you can see why ladies love him. I watch the set over and over so everything can be imprinted on my subconscious. Who needs to play guessing games? You won't have to after viewing the set.
I feel that all Mystery Method products are packed with value, that's why they don't need to offer that many. There's not much you COULD need after this. Some companies put out the same thing under different titles over and over, but seriously, how many different ways CAN you "evict your inner wuss?" When you have both the handbook and DVD's in your hands, you will begin to imagine the possibilities that await you. You can become the shark in the waters of social dynamics and seduction.
Mystery changed my life, and after you begin to realize he can change yours, it all starts with you.

WHAT I LEARNED FROM MY BREAKUP & THE CENTRAL CHALLENGE OF DATING & RELATIONSHIPS
Today, I want to talk to you about breakups, and what they can teach you about relationships, yourself and what really matters to you.
See, recently I was dating this really great woman. She was feisty, she was beautiful, she was cool and fun and adventurous, and we really cared for each other.
Sounds like the formula for an ideal relationship, right?
Except that there was one thing missing.
See, the way I think about, in an ideal relationship, you want to be able to connect with your partner at three levels.
These three levels correspond roughly to three of the chakras. (Chakras, in traditional Indian medicine and mysticism, are seven energy centers corresponding to different organs of the body). The three we're going to deal with are at the groin, the heart, and the forehead.
In simple terms, to have a lasting, powerful relationship, you want to be able to connect with your mate in three separate ways.
The first is a sexual connection, corresponding to the groin chakra. A lot of people skip over this sexual compatibility component when entering into a relationship, then wonder why things aren't working out when it's too late and they already have 2.3 kids and a mortgage. Guys -- don't be one of those guys. (And girls -- don't be one of those girls either.)
The sexual connection is absolutely key. There are dozens of ways that the human mind and body is configured over millions of years to figure out whether two people should reproduce together or not. Some have to do with smell; some have to do with how much time you've spent with someone when you were very young.
For example, they've found recently that the mechanism that keeps siblings from finding one another attractive also keeps children on a Kibbutz from being attracted to one another. As it turns out, kids that grow up on the same Kibbutz almost never marry each other.
Most of these mechanisms have to do with the genetic health of the offspring, from avoiding the risk of congenital disease to optimizing the robustness of the children's immune system. But whatever they are and for whatever reason they exist, they're there. They're part of the Tao. And you can't fight them. You cannot *think* a person into attractiveness.
So: if you're thinking about pursuing a woman in the long-term, make sure you feel a visceral attraction towards her. You don't get out of the starting gate without it.
Without that spark, without the passion, all you've got is a complicated friendship. And you don't need another one of those.
The second connection is a deeply felt affection and appreciation, at the level of the heart chakra. Some people call this love. We could talk for days about that one, but we're going to keep this brief in the interests of the discussion.
For a relationship to perpetuate and grow, it's necessary for the two people to care for one another. This may seem entirely obvious, but lots of people (perhaps even yourself) have had low-calorie relationships where there's a great sexual connection and lots of fun, but only a little investment in mutual long-term growth and well-being. And there's a time and a place for that, and it's perfectly OK, as long as both parties are on equal footing and comfortable with the terms of the relationship.
It's also important to recognize what the heart chakra connection is not. It is not infatuation, obsession, codependency or possessiveness. Those are the opposite of the heart connection. Rather, it is a deep, sustained appreciation of another person for who he or she is.
And then, there's the head connection.
For those of you who don't have one, lucky you. As they say: no brain, no pain. But to the rest of us -- well, for me, this tends to be the trickiest one.
The head connection is about having intellectual compatibility. It doesn't have to be an exact match, but rather you want there to be a receiving station for the words you're broadcasting to one another -- a rough correspondence between what you are saying and what she's perceiving. It's all about words.
This happens both at the level of content and process. If she likes to talk about handbags and you're into nuclear physics, you may have a mismatch. If the word 'fun' means jumping out of planes for you but to her it means baking a casserole, you also have a mismatch. If you're sharing your experiences and she perceives it as bragging, or she's joking around and you perceive it as injury, there's also a disconnect at the head level.
In my experience this is the most challenging part to get right between two people, because words are tricky business.
One sound, so many meanings. What does 'set' mean to you? The dictionary has 250+ definitions for that one. How about 'love'?
Which brings us back to the story. To all of you who are still wondering what happened to that relationship of mine:
The other two connections were fantastic, but the one at the head chakra simply wasn't there. All relationships are temporary, and especially without the head connection, they can only last so long. Hey man -- happens to the best of us.
The good news is that men and woman have intrinsically different verbal communication styles, so the challenge is a universal one. And the three chakra connections feed into one another.
For example, you're less likely to perceive someone's joke as a slight if you know the heart-level connection between you is strong. For an extensive, funny and very readable treatment of innate male-female differences, especially when it comes to communication styles, I highly recommend "Why Men Don't Listen and Women Can't Read Maps" by Barbara and Allan Pease.
So now you're thinking, "OK, Dr Alex. This is nice. Relevance, please?"
Hold your horses, bro. We're about to get to the really good part.
The key reason why dating and relationships are such a challenge is because of one thing: EXPECTATION.
If you had no expectations about anything, everything at every moment in your life would be peachy-keen. Let's do a little thought experiment here and see what your dating world would look like if you had no expectations:
You wouldn't worry about how she'd react when you approached her. Acceptance and rejection would become meaningless. You wouldn't worry about whether she's going to call back. You wouldn't worry about what to wear, where to take her, whether or not to pay the bill, or when to call her again. You wouldn't worry if she's going to kiss you goodnight or sleep with you. You would reside fully in the present. You wouldn't worry about a darn thing.
Without expectation, you would never experience disappointment. And without disappointment, your spirit would never grow old, and life would be a perpetual ball.
Of course, it would be easy for me to say, "Go, and reside fully in the present." Just like that guy from the movie "Memento" (one of my favorite). Or that other movie, "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind." After all, it's what the Eastern masters say. It's the way of the Tao.
Just do it. Right?
But human beings are designed to be time-binding creatures. Planning and expectation is essential to our survival. You sow in expectation of a harvest in six months. You plan for it and make silos so you have food for the winter.
You inhabit this world with its myriad deadlines, appointments, expiration dates, performance reviews, quarterly reports. Most of us will not escape time and expectation in this lifetime.
And the Tao of Dating is about practicality -- being able to *apply* the principles to this life, in this rough-and-tumble world. So I'm going to tell you what to EXPECT with each type of connection you can have with a woman. You may not be able to get rid of expectation, but you CAN manage it, which adds to your empowerment and joy.
So here's the nugget: You can't start a relationship unless you have that element of sexual attraction, that eros, that groin chakra connection between the two of you. So don't even try -- it's bound to falter.
If you just have a groin level connection, it'll be lots of fun but won't last long.
If you have a groin and heart chakra connection, you have a good start. This type of relationship can last for a few months easily, for a year with effort. In that time, with determination, you may be able to develop the head connection, too.
If you have a head and groin connection, congratulations! You've got what every guy dreams about: a friend with benefits. This can last for as long as the arrangement is mutually acceptable. What tends to happen, however, is that one partner starts to develop 'feelings' (oh no, not those). And then you have to deal with that -- either upgrade to full-fledged three-chakra deal, or exit stage left. Also, if someone waltzes into your life with whom you have an intense heart connection, you will forget about Ms. Benefits *instantly*. Guaranteed.
And if you've got someone with whom all three connections are on -- you've got a keeper, buddy, and it's worth cherishing and nurturing. And you'll be having so much fun with HER, you won't have time to be reading this stuff any more. I certainly hope I can help give you that problem.

Melbourne Lair: The place, an open shopping center in the heart of the city. I sit down at the food court and wait for familiar faces to arrive. I picked the location of this months meeting of the Melbourne Lair, Its great to have it in an informal place like a food court, sets a nice relaxing mood. Once everybody arrives we push some tables together and start the meeting. We discuss peoples sticking points and offer suggestions, we tell stories of crash and burns and success stories. We just shoot the sh*t, it f*cking great to meet up with like minded people. While telling someone my smurf routine, I see two guys get up from the table and start walking away, I glance back later to see them sitting with a girl, these guys are approach machines.
The meeting goes on way too f*cking long, everybody's got a story to tell, advice to offer, we could talk to each other for days. I feel like this is Ocean's 11 and we are planning the big heist. There is the leader, he started the group. The guru, he's an encyclopedia of info. There is the joker, he can't stop negging and teasing everyone; f*cking Canadians. There's the approach machines, they can't follow the conversation because they are too busy following the nearest piece of ass. There is the SSer, the grease boy and of course Brad Pitt. We all exchange numbers before leaving and make plans for sarging during the week. If there is a Lair in your area, join it, if there isn't, start one of your own. You will not regret it.

New Dating/Seduction Seminars & Workshop in Montreal by DOC!
Doc, who many of you know from his great interview here last time and all too rare but outstanding posts on this list, on Mystery's Lounge, and the Montreal Lair, is bringing his seminars and speed dating events to Montreal. Previously they were mainly held in Toronto as part of the Learning Annex, Doc is now setting it up here and plans to hold events on a monthly basis.

The events are Dating Secrets for Women, a 3 Hour seminar (cost $50) and Dating Secrets for Guys; a Guide to The Art of Dating (also 3 hours and $50). The fall calendar has a full weekend seminar and makeover. He also has 3 new books coming out this fall under the SETNA Dating Manual Series. Volume I (to be released this week) deals with the psychology of attraction, first impressions, and working on your inner game, Volume II (coming in September) deals with tactics and strategies to go from meeting her to dating her, and Volume III will deal with Managing Relationships.
Full-weekend Dating Makeover workshops will be offered soon (including a half day with a personal stylist, video tape analysis of body language, and live practice sessions with dating coaches beautiful women who will give the guys on the spot feedback on how they come across and what to improve). If there is a group of 10 or more guys interested in a seminar (or 5 guys for a workshop, he would consider making a special trip to their city).
This is a great opportunity to learn from a real master.

What method are YOU using?
If you are opening groups (or sets: 2-sets, 3-sets, mixed sets, etc) of people with the 3 second rule by stacking indirect openers (including false opinion openers), false time constraining (discovered by Style), demonstrating a higher value to your romantic interest’s peer group with high octane DHVs while she obliquely observes (locking her into her own set with a prop), and simultaneously performing false disqualifiers (which include negs) on her with the intension of disarming her peergroup and then isolating her to rebuild her self-esteem once you have enough IOIs (indicators of interest) so you may share in a comfort and trust building effort and then build in a jealousy subplot to solidify her attraction for you, you are using The Mystery Method.
If instead you are only approaching women who are alone, you are greatly limiting your options and quite likely alienating your target's friends. Do you want a lonely woman (why is she lonely?) or a woman who already has a healthy social lfe? Truth is, healthy women have healthy relationships ... sometimes good friendships with guys. Like it or not, you will have to meet these women with men in her group.
