I see a recurring theme in guys that I teach and interact with. They want to proposition a woman in one way or another. They feel that is honest.
For example, a guy came to me the other day telling me: "I just fell over and told my long term crush that I am in love with her. How do I handle it from here?" ... and I groaned internally. He largely ruined his chances with her and now will be battling to get it back. With some probing, he told me that it just feels more honest to let her know. That playing games and acting as if he did not did not seem right to him. And at least he has gotten it off his chest now.
This may sound familiar to you. This may be why you want to approach women directly, and tell them as the first thing that comes out of your mouth. "Hi, I really like you, and thought I would introduce myself ..." I understand why it is appealing, but it is not the best way forward. It is not socially adept. There is too much room for her to say "I am not interested", and everyone in the room will see you as a beggar.
Some people have an orientation where they just want to tell the girl up front they like them. This might be a problem for you especially if you see yourself as extremely romantic and sentimental. The sort of play-acting where you and her both pretend you are not all that attracted to one another (which is absolutely required by our courtship system) represents something repulsive to you. You want to find someone who will accept and love you as you are. In short, you don't want to beat around the bush. Dating and courtship hold no special allure for you.
Well what I am here to tell you is that you need to embrace the game. And you need to do it in a way where you are building your skills towards where you would like to have them when you have achieved your goals.
For me here is the goal: to be a viable relationship proposition to every girl you meet. It means you build skills and your life in a different direction to the one where you walk up and proposition girls. It means you build a social network, and are very good socially, and she can see that she would slot straight into that spot in your life, and would be very happy. You can demonstrate this in many ways on the initial night. Dealing with her tests and games, being good socially, having a lot going on in your life are part of that. And with that in mind, you need to preserve your respect within social interactions.
Girls like sex as much as men. But there are a lot of social factors constraining her decision to go to bed with someone. There is what the society will say about her, there is the risk of rape, violence, disease. There is the risk of the guy falling in love and becoming a stalker. There is the risk of her falling in love and a fear of abandonment. But they can control their own emotions, but not those of other people. They have a minimum standard that has to be met to sleep with a guy when she is without sex in her life. That is that it will not get weird or anything. That he will not fall in love and tell her he loves her. That it will not be awkward when he sees her again. That he will not brag to all his friends. Or tell his friends about any sexual disfunction. And that she will not regret it. It has to be comfortable for her.
So that is, to me, bottom level game. Like the minimum required. And I know that some guys will walk up to 100 girls and say some variation of a proposition to see where it gets him. He is shooting at nothing more than that bottom level game. And the strategy is not a successful one. In the social psychology literature, Clark and Hatfield (1989; see PIP p.37) did a study where attractive strangers walked up offering to have sex with students. None of the female students accepted but 75% of the males did. If this was not working for extremely attractive model quality men on campuses, then why would it work for you? Some men believe in it though, even though it burns their social capital and is only shooting at bottom level game.
Then as you come up in your skill development at flirting, she will still sleep with you because you are not going to get weird on her and tell her you love her on the second night or anything, but now she likes you on a deeper level also.
The ultimate, at the top, is where you can keep any girl you ever interact with. All of them want to move into your house and for you to have them as your woman. You are a dream that is not realistic for most of the girls you speak to. But they will definitely still sleep with you. You have a line up of girls behind you, not just because you are some sort of sexual presence that will not get weird, but because girls genuinely love you.
Now what I am saying is that you need to shoot, in your skill set
, for that top level. Being able to keep the girls you interact with.
Any method you would want to perfect should be useful for more than just anonymous environments. You should be using anonymous environments to perfect techniques that are good in everyday life social situations once you have greater access.
So what is the right way forward? The same way that would work if you are at a work function or your cousins housewarming party with a female friend of his, or anywhere else. You get into non-sexual conversation, and you flirt. Flirting is playfulness. She kind of likes you but does not know if she will be accepted, and you like her and do not know if you will be accepted, so you take playful risks in your conversation, your touch, your eye gestures. And you slowly allow the sexual dynamic to unfold.
Then she is in a position to judge you and what it is like hanging out with you. Then she has given you reasons to be attracted to her beyond her looks, and you have given her reasons to be attracted to you beyond yours.
A confession of love should never be done unless it is within the confines of a relationship, and an expression of romantic interest should not happen until you know her well enough that you have a reason to be attracted to her (and you can get to know someone well enough for that in 5 minutes).
So rid your mind of your need to confess your love. Embrace the game. And get out there and interact with real women. You will find it enjoyable, I promise.

Review of DYD's Approaching Women
Well, I've been slowly assembling the "Double Your Dating" puzzle for two years now, so here is what I think of one of the latest products, "Approaching Women And Starting Conversations" on DVD. It runs at nearly 10 hours, so a good thing to take a day off, like call your boss and say you don't feel good today (i.e. you feel evil...) as it's too long for one evening, even two. I have the core and foundation programs to thank for finally understanding why a sexual walking "face" doing body language reader eye contact maker neck sniffing cocky joker like myself has more success with women than most men. Still, I got started with these programs for one main reason, which is probably the base idea behind the beginning of the DYD series: the approach. The approach is the primary part of PUA or dating, it's where it all begins. So on with the review.
This program starts off as usual, with David DeAngelo's explanation of everything necessary, like that this program came to be because approaching women is the focal point of dating, or how fear is the big issue. This is of course followed by the mindsets and reframing tricks, the part that takes up most of the usual "90 days to apply" suggestion. Then, as an introduction to the guest speakers, comes some of the tips and techniques. All this beginning runs about a third of the program. One thing to note is that there's a lot of references to other programs, as this seems more like an aggregate and expansion on these previous seminars, hence making it into the "techniques" programs of Double Your Dating, so there are a lot less references to other books (instead, there are references to seminars and movies to watch).
So on with the guests, as it's always interesting to have the perspective and tricks of different guys (and having someone else do the talking, right David D.?), and also a nice change of pace to keep focusing. Still, as most of the guests don't have slides in the binder, you'll need to take notes because the info they give is well worth it. We have Craig's excellent list of openers in any situation, Tyler's Real Social Dynamics interactive show, and Mystery's one hour segment on the first part of his method (obviously). There's also Will, Toecutter, Sean Stephenson, and the founding Wing Girls, Plus, as a special treat, David DeAngelo is not the most boring speaker, yet Dr. Paul is the only one to have slides in the binder (and a lot of them), yet again demonstrating that if it's mind-numbing, you have slides to read!
All in all, a very good program, and as with most DYD products, a buy recommendation. Again, approaching women is the part that set it all in play, so this would probably be the program to get if you're already comfortable with yourself and around women.
For the more advanced readers, this program doesn't require to identify David DeAngelo's fears and disbeliefs, figuring out his "doctrine key" and reacquire the knowledge properly (up to having to watch it again), so a nice relief at that. Also, the naturals paradox in this program is about guys like me who can identify women who are single or want it, making the approach simpler that feels quite secure (and yet another proof that guys like me exist. I'm not alone!). Of course, if like me you almost stopped at Advanced Dating Techniques because David DeAngelo explained "the face" yet feared it's power enough to not do it, merely saying that if you can do the face to do that (well DUH!), or even tried to figure out the "Bars and Clubs" paradox that guys who are very successful don't approach women (and my reality...), you should still check out this program, if only for all the opening tricks. Yeah, I know, maybe David D. will figure out the pattern in his puzzle and come up with a line of "high level foundation" programs, but considering every time he mentions the movie "Whipped" he refers to the worst scene of the movie (that movie is my favorite PUA teaching aid), especially from a guy who did a program called "Body Language", I wouldn't get my hopes up.
Anyway, always a nice touch with the shirt's color DVD menu, and as usual a little bit of humor here and there from the guest speakers, like the pink shirt running gag still going on (to David DeAngelo: it's because your programs are targeted at guys who don't get it!), so enjoy it!

Here's a good story for you guys, happened to me a few weeks ago in NYC.
I was there doing a one-on-one with a student (fun guy!) who I will refer to as K. We were walking through the NoLita neighborhood checking for sets, on the way to meet up with some of K's friends. We has spent all afternoon doing day game, and were a little bit "sarged out". I was looking forward to sitting down, having a beer and watching the hockey game (the Stanley Cup was on).
Walking down the street, I see a girl sitting outside a fancy-pants bar smoking a cigarette. K says to me, "do you think that was Kirsten Dunst", and I say... "nahh..... was it?"
No lie guys, Kirsten Dunst was having a cigarette outside this bar, and I wasn't going to let that opportunity go by!
So, we turn around, and head into the bar in question. It's totally packed, and I quickly ascertain that Kirsten is in a back corner, surrounded by an entourage of about 8 people. There is no lock-in position, and it looks like a tough situation.
I talk to the waiter, and arrange for us to get the table closest to theirs, it will be at least 20 minutes.
I decide my best bet is to sarge her when she goes out for her next cigarette, there will be an interrupt 10 minutes in (as they finish their cigarettes and go inside), but that's enough time to get locked into a set, to the point where they're pursuing conversation with me.
I buy a cigarette off a guy nearby and get ready...
Kirsten walks out with 2 friends (guy and girl) to have a cigarette... I pause a minute or so, and join them.
10M: "Hey, (to Kirsten's friend) can I get a light?"
Entourage: "No problem"...
10M: "All right (engaging guy and girl, ignoring Kirsten), check this out. My buddy, Dave, just called me to say he can't make it out tonight, because (jealous girlfriend opener)... are like, New York girls crazy or what?"
Entourage: Yada yada yada...
10M: "Ok, check out my crazy New Yorker story... this just happened to me today, and I'm visiting from out of town."
Kirsten: "Are you from Canada?? ABOOT ABOOT... I can tell!!!"
10M: "Listen, little one, don't make me come down there!... So I'm at the corner of 1st and 60th, and this old, beat up car comes to the intersection. It's spewing black, oily smoke, and there's actually FLAME licking out from under the bumper... like an honest to goodness FLAME."
"So I try and wave this guy down, and he doesn't see me. So I walk in front of the car, yelling 'DUDE!! YOUR CAR IS ON FIRE!! GET OUT'... and the guy's window is open, and he can hear me. And you know what he does???"
(at this point, I make a face and give Kirsten Dunst and her entourage the finger).."He flips me the bird and drives off in his burning fucking car!!!"
(Everyone laughs)
Kirsten: "New Yorkers are so mean" (kinos me)..
I'm thinking to myself... "Did Kirsten Dunst just kino me? Did she just run her hand down my arm??"
Yes she did... and it was legit.
I hold out my hands in front of me... Kirsten puts her hands in mine, palm down (IOI).
I look at her palms, raise my eyebrow and say "Hmm... interesting", and push her palms away.
Kirsten: "What... what???"
I walk past Kirsten and lean against some fancy car parked in front of the club... the alarm doesn't go off (thankfully... that would have sucked BAD). Kirsten follows.
Kirsten Dunst is now facing me, as I lean up against some fancy car, and her hands are in mine. I begin running a palm reading routine.
Kirsten is eating up my palm reading routine, but at this point her friends have finished their cigarettes, and are going inside. I'm losing Kirsten - she is being pulled away by her friends, and feels uncomfortable being outside, alone, with a guy she just met. I'm also at a good point in the palm reading routine, where I feel she is hooked on hearing the end of it... if an interrupt is to come, this is the best time for it.
10M: "Your friends are leaving... go join them... shoo". And I push her away... she smiles at me and goes back into the bar.
As I get back into the bar, the waiters are just about ready to give us our seats... very good. We wait a few minutes, and start to take our seats.
As we sit down, Kirsten's table gets up to leave. I'm like "crap!!!" and start thinking of what I can do to save this sarge. They go outside, and I pop out 30 seconds later (don't want to look like I'm chasing them), and they're already halfway down the street... and just like that, Kirsten Dunst is gone!
Oh well... it was an awesome experience. And the really cool thing that I noticed was that Kirsten Dunst is a really normal girl... like there wasn't any difference between sarging her and any other girl you meet at a club. It was really cool to realize that even celebs like Kirsten Dunst are just normal girls, with normal interests, insecurities and regular lives. No doubt, next time I run into a celebrity, I'll be ready!

If you are opening groups (or sets: 2-sets, 3-sets, mixed sets, etc) of people with the 3 second rule by stacking indirect openers (including false opinion openers), false time constraining (discovered by Style), demonstrating a higher value to your romantic interest’s peer group with high octane DHVs while she obliquely observes (locking her into her own set with a prop), and simultaneously performing false disqualifiers (which include negs) on her with the intension of disarming her peergroup and then isolating her to rebuild her self-esteem once you have enough IOIs (indicators of interest) so you may share in a comfort and trust building effort and then build in a jealousy subplot to solidify her attraction for you, you are using The Mystery Method.
If instead you are only approaching women who are alone, you are greatly limiting your options and quite likely alienating your target's friends. Do you want a lonely woman (why is she lonely?) or a woman who already has a healthy social lfe? Truth is, healthy women have healthy relationships ... sometimes good friendships with guys. Like it or not, you will have to meet these women with men in her group.

next level. In London, the nerve centre of Europe, we are getting ready to rock the world.
It will be held between Sep 8-10, the week after the RSD superconference. I won't give many details yet, but it's likely that three of the biggest names
- like Mystery, TD, and Badboy - will be present.Possibly, it will be the greatest FREE pickup event ever held. We are getting applications every day and you can check it out soon when we launch the site.
